Caramel Chocolate Brownies

All men love brownies. It's a fact.
What's your secret man pleasing brownie recipe? You know what I mean... The newest chick flick just came out and you want to go see it so what do you do? Bust out a batch of your favorite man pleasing treats as a "bribe." I say "bride" lightly because all good boyfriends/husbands/etc don't need to be bribed, they go because they love you. Maybe I should change the word "bride" to a thank you for going to the movie.

The recipe calls for using the caramels and evaporated milk to make a caramel sauce. I've discovered through the many times I've made this recipe that rather than taking the time to do that you can also buy a  jar of hot caramel ice cream sauce. It's a huge time saver and tastes great!

Caramel Chocolate Brownies

14 oz. of caramels
1/2 cup evaporated milk
1 (18.25 oz.) package German Chocolate cake mix
1/3 cup evaporated milk
3/4 cup butter, melted
1/4 cup chopped pecans or walnuts (optional)
2 cups milk chocolate chips

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Grease a 9x13 inch pan.

Peel wrappers off caramels and place in a microwave-safe bowl. Stir in 1/2 cup of the evaporated milk. Heat in 30 second intervals until caramel is melted, stir until combined with evaporated milk.

In a large mixing bowl, mix together cake mix, 1/3 cup evaporated milk, melted butter, and nuts (optional). Press half of the batter in prepared baking pan, bake for 8 minutes.

Place the remaining batter into the refrigerator. Remove brownies from oven and sprinkle chocolate chips on top. Drizzle and spread the caramel over chocolate chips. Remove brownie mix from refrigerator. Using your hands (or spoons if you don't like a little mess) make small balls from the batter then smash them flat. Lay flat batter chucks on top of the caramel until the top is totally covered. Bake for another 20 minutes. Remove and let cool. Cut and eat!

Gooey Sticky Yummy Goodness!
